Overview: King of Fighters '97 is that the fourth game within the King of Fighters series. This King of Fighters has the introduction of 2 special modes-Advance Mode (based on KOF '96) and additional Mode (based on KOF '94 & '95). It concludes the 3 half 'Orochi Saga' story-line begun King of Fighters '95 (and continued in KOF '96).
Fans were asked to vote for his or her favorite characters to feature into the series through 3 game magazines: Famitsu, Gamest, and modern Geo Freak. The 3 winners type the '97 Special Team. The magazines additionally created their own special edit groups to incorporate within the game.
